Aaay, It's Tuesday! Let's Taco Bout it!
I started writing a blog about the Corona Virus but then realized I’d much rather right about tacos. Additionally, I can’t fight the urge to reference all the memes about Corona, the beer when talking about a tacos.
Anyway, the taco.... An unspoken marvel of the world. For centuries, a subject of great debate. Corn... flour? No matter your stance, one thing we can all agree on is, they are damn delicious.
When you think about those perfect little handheld meals you have quite a few options here in VA!
Taqueria La Cabana -Closed
I may or may not have dropped $80 on take out for my 30th bday...While dropping a bag on tacos and margs sounds like a good time for anyone, sadly they are now closed.
Tucked in the breezeway of a very unassuming “shopping destination”… I say destination because Im honestly not sure what to call the building its in. Its part shopping center/restaurant haven with an HVAC maintenance company attached. Guess if the flavors make the spot too hot, they can always call on them… and thaaat’s a dad joke!
These are special items and I mean that in more than one way. 1. Not normally offered and 2. They are 100% vegan. But see had I not said anything you wouldn’t be able to tell. Shavonne is doing amazing things and bridging the gap between vegan and non-vegan.
A buddy of mine who happens to be Mexican told me, “if you see Mexican dudes eating there, you are in the right spot” I still take that advice. Beyond the racial profiling, the food is fire and the hospitality is something to write home about as well.
Battlegrounds Coffeehouse & Grill -
Ok ok, so normally you wouldn’t think coffee and tacos but Battleground said “WE NOT MOST COFFEE SHOPS!” These tacos are breffast tacos so they go perfect with the Mexican chocolate coffee. Simple yet mind-blowingly delicious… oh and that that lime crema tho!
Taqueria La Hacienda - While this spot is kind of in the middle of nowhere the tacos are crazy! So much so that Im just going to say enjoy the journey so the reward is that much better!
Great name, great tacos and even better burritos… but we are talking about tacos sooo…
From cart to full-blown restaurant... SoCal flavor in VB. While not traditional and not trying to be, they still hold there on the delicious meter. I think I like them so much because they have a list of different sauces to choose from like “cinnamon chipotle” and “classic sweet dill”.
Parked in a double-decker bus right at the main Virginia Beach Oceanfront strip, these bad boys aim to please.
The following are not IN the 757 but are close and worth mentioning!
Exactly what it sounds like, tacos w/ soooul. Braised oxtail, Cornmeal Catfish, Roasted Sweet Potato and Black Eyed Peas… bruh, need I go on? Three locations in Richmond, all fire and worth a visit.
I can’t take the wife back to Fredericksburg and not stop in. While it’s her favorite and their tacos are delicious it’s the maduros & yucca fries I’m after!
One of the new kids on the block in FXBG but again great name and GREAT tacos!
En Su Boca-RVA- Brunch tacos plus a build your own Bloody Mary Bar!
Got some you wanna recommend, let’s Taco-Bout it!
